Powerlifting Belts Built for Brands Serving Competitive Lifters

Powerlifting belts from Oath and Oak Global are made in our factory for brands that sell to competitive and serious strength lifters, in stiff leather with a prong or lever closure.

  • Stiff layered leather construction
  • Same width from the back to the buckle
  • Prong or lever closure
  • Your logo, colors and packaging
  • Can be built within IPF dimension limits

What Makes a Powerlifting Belt Different?

It keeps one width all the way round and uses thick, stiff leather, so the lifter has a solid wall to brace against in the squat, bench press and deadlift.

Olympic-style belts narrow at the front for mobility. A powerlifting weightlifting belt does not, because maximum stiffness matters more to these lifters than range of motion.

Which Powerlifting Builds Can You Order?

Single-Prong Belt

One prong and a roller buckle make it quick to fasten and easy to adjust, a popular first competition belt.

Double-Prong Belt

Two prongs share the load across two holes for a very secure hold, at the cost of slower fastening.

Lever Competition Belt

A steel lever on the same stiff body for an identical fit every set. See our lever weightlifting belt.

Suede Competition Belt

Suede on both faces grips the lifting suit and gives a soft surface for debossed logos and athlete names.

Which Construction Rules Apply to Competition Belts?

The IPF Technical Rulebook effective 1 March 2026 sets these limits, and Oath and Oak can build your belt within them:

RuleLimit
Belt width10 cm maximum
Belt thickness13 mm maximum along the main length
Buckle inside width11 cm maximum
Buckle outside width13 cm maximum
Tongue loop width5 cm maximum
Belt end to far end of tongue loop25 cm maximum
MaterialsLeather, vinyl or similar non-stretch layers, glued or stitched

Competition use also depends on the IPF Approved List of Apparel and Equipment, which covers the brand selling the belt rather than the factory that builds it.

How Can You Brand a Custom Powerlifting Belt?

Competition belts are photographed on the platform, so the logo, color and edge work put your brand in front of every audience your athletes reach.

How Is Your Competition Belt Packed?

Thick belts are packed flat in retail boxes so the leather keeps its shape in transit and arrives ready for the shelf or a product photo.

Size labels, inserts and UPC or FNSKU barcodes are applied first, then master cartons are packed by size.

How Do Your Customers Choose the Right Competition Belt?

Sizing by Waist

Measure where the belt is worn, relaxed. At meets the belt goes over the lifting suit, so a mid-range fit is safest.

Prong or Lever

Prong builds suit lifters who share a belt or change weight class. Lever builds suit one locked setting.

Suede or Smooth

Suede faces grip the suit and shirt. Smooth leather shows printed and painted designs more clearly.

How Is the Sample Checked Before Production?

We measure the sample’s thickness, width and buckle dimensions against your target, and you check stiffness, edge comfort and logo depth in hand.

Production then layers and stitches each belt to one pattern, and each lot is measured against the sample you signed off. A new competition design starts with our product development process.

Which Checks Does Every Competition Belt Pass?

These product checks run alongside the inspection stages in our standard quality control process:

  • Thickness measured along the main length, not only at the edges
  • Width measured at the back, sides and front
  • Buckle inside and outside widths
  • Tongue loop width and position
  • Stitching, rivets and edge finish

The application is made by your brand to the IPF, not by the factory. We build belts to the rulebook dimensions and can share the measurements and construction details your application needs.

Not for IPF meets. The rulebook bans extra padding, bracing or supports on the surface or hidden inside the layers, so competition belts rely on stiff leather alone.

Yes. Each federation publishes its own equipment rules and lists, so a belt sold for one federation’s meets may need checking for another. Ask customers where they compete before you finalize specifications.

Yes. Names or initials can be embossed or printed belt by belt for team orders and sponsored athletes. Federations limit what may appear on belts at some meets, so check the logo rules for each event.

Yes. Brands often launch a belt with wrist wraps and knee sleeves in the same colors and branding, ordered together and delivered in one shipment to keep the launch simple.
